The CM1224 series of diode arrays are suitable for ESD protection of electronic components or subsystems requiring minimal capacitive loading. These devices are suitable for protecting systems with higher data and clock rates, or circuits that require low capacitive loading. Each ESD channel consists of a pair of series diodes that divert positive or negative ESD current pulses to the positive (VP) or negative (VN) supply rail. A Zener diode is embedded between VP and VN, providing two advantages. First, it protects the VCC rail from ESD spikes, and second, bypass capacitors are no longer needed to absorb positive ESD spikes to ground. The CM1224 provides protection against ESD pulses up to ±8kV according to the IEC61000-4-2 standard. These devices are ideal for protecting USB 2.0, IEEE1394 (Firewire, iLink), Serial ATA, DVI, HDMI and the corresponding port system. The CM1224 series of devices are available in a leadless, small package footprint.
