The NLSX4014 is a 4-bit configurable dual-supply bidirectional level shifter that does not require a direction control pin. The IO VCC and IO VL ports are used to track two different power rails, VCC and VL, respectively. The VCC rail is configurable from 1.3 V to 4.5 V, while the VL rail is configurable from 0.9 V to (VCC - 0.4) V. This allows lower voltage logic signals on the VL side to be converted to higher voltage logic signals on the VCC side and vice versa. Both I/O ports are auto-sensing, eliminating the need for direction pins. The output enable (EN) input, when low, places both I/O ports in 3-state, thereby disabling them. This greatly reduces supply current from VCC and VL. The EN signal is used to track VL.

The device is fabricated using advanced CMOS technology to achieve ultra-high speed and high output drive while maintaining low static power consumption over a very wide VCC operating range. The device is specified to operate from 1.65 to 5.5V VCC. When VCC is 0V, the input and output are high impedance. The input is tolerant to 5.5V regardless of the VCC operating range.
