The VHC164 is an advanced high-speed CMOS device fabricated in a silicon-gate CMOS process. The VHC164 is a high-speed 8-bit serial-input parallel-output shift register. Serial data is input through a 2-input AND gate that is synchronized to the low-to-high transition of the clock. The device features an asynchronous master reset that clears registers and sets all outputs low independent of a clock. An input protection circuit ensures that 0V to 7V is applied to the input pins regardless of the supply voltage.
